100 ATHLETIC – Pertex Microlight Warm Up Jacket + Pants Posted: 05 Apr 2012 05:00 AM PDT Caol Uno is an iconic Japanese MMA fighter with a keen sense of style. The 100 ATHLETIC brand aims to marry the functionality of training wear with fashionable sportswear. This Pertex Microlight Warm Up Jacket and Pants set up is a good example of unparalleled performance co-existing with contemporary styling. From the invisible chest pocket zippers to pleated ventilation on the shoulder blades, to the Pertex outer shell providing water and wind resistance, the small details work effortless with the minimal design of the garment. Two types of Coolmax mesh materials line the interior, helping to eradicate moisture rapidly. What is not minimal is the reflective hologram pattern, aiding visibility on the street during night time. This set up can be found at Intention in Japan.

Posted: 05 Apr 2012 04:00 AM PDT When Japanese sculpture artist Haroshi was invited for a collaboration with HUF and DLX, no one would have imagined the precision work that went into making each piece into reality. Made only from recycled skateboards, the sculptures were well received by peers in the industry. Although there was this one piece, the Middle Finger sculpture, that stood out and caught everyone’s attention. Aside from the controversial hand gesture, the artwork replicates the hand and arm of Peter Ramondetta, a professional skateboarder, right down to his various tattoos. For those who missed out on the opportunity to take home the actual piece, Haroshi is producing a print of it in a signed and numbered edition of 200 pieces. The print measures 24″ x 36″ and is an archival Giclee print on 300gsm Kakita paper. Sale will commence tonight at 8pm Pacific time on Haroshi‘s website.

Tate – Damien Hirst: For The Love of God | Video Posted: 05 Apr 2012 03:00 AM PDT The new Retrospective Exhibition of Damien Hirst just opened its doors yesterday at Tate Modern in London. One of the iconic pieces from Hirst, if not the whole contemporary world, is the platinum dipped and diamond encrusted skull, For The Love of God, which was produced in 2007. It is as mesmerizing to look at, as it is to be amazed by its astronomic price tag, a cool £14 million to fabricate and reportedly sold for £50 million. Here is a look at how the piece was made from the sourcing of the skull to the setting of the diamonds. Watch the whole interview conducted by Tate after the jump.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GF5 Digital Camera Posted: 05 Apr 2012 01:18 AM PDT If you’re experiencing a brief moment of déjà vu, then you’re not the only one. After several well positioned “leaks”, including one by the doe-eyed Hong Kong Angelbaby, Panasonic officially introduced the new LUMIX DMC-GF5 digital camera earlier today. The forth model within Panasonic’s GF model line, it received designation of “5″ instead purportedly because the pronunciation of numeral “4″ was phonetically similar to word “death” in Chinese. Aside from that minor alteration and a distinctive rubber grip, everything on the GF5 is nearly identical to DMC-GF3 on appearance. So were Panasonic engineers asleep on the job? Actually, quite the opposite. While its form factor is like that of its predecessor, the innards of GF5 are brand spankin new. With a newly developed 12.1 megapixel Live MOS sensor, along with a newer version of the Venus Engine image processor, the GF5 has a ISO range from 160 all the way to 12,800. Quipped with a more vibrant 3-inch, 920,000-dot LCD display, improved touch screen capabilities, MP4 video recording feature, and a much improved user interface, there is also a full range of interchangeable lens available thanks to its Micro Four Third standard. Comes in black, white, and red, the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GF5 Micro Four Third camera retails around US$ 599 when with a 14-42mm lens kit or US$ 749 with a zoom lens. All set to be available later on this year. Images via: Engadget//The Verge

Posted: 04 Apr 2012 11:30 PM PDT Sprint presents the HTC EVO 4G LTE, one of the first smartphones to support the carrier’s upcoming LTE network (it’s expected to launch later this year, ahead of the release of the EVO 4G LTE). It’s fairly big at 5.3 inches by 2.7 inches, but also surprisingly thin (0.35 inches) and light (4.7 ounces). The device sports a 4.7-inch 1280-by-720 pixel super LCD screen, good for Web browsing and videos, and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. A main selling point is the 8-megapixel camera that shoots well in low light and features burst mode, which captures 4 images per second. It also handles 1080p video even as you take still pictures. The EVO is also the first phone to support “HD Voice,” a higher-quality encoder for phone calls (it’s limited to just Sprint-to-Sprint calls). Other features include 16GB of on-board memory, a micro-SD slot for an additional 32GB of storage, Beats audio, Android 4.0, plus a kickstand for easy viewing. Pre-orders for the $199.99 phone will begin on May 7th, with an official launch date forthcoming.

Scion iQ – “Babes N’ Donuts…and Milk” | Video Posted: 04 Apr 2012 10:30 PM PDT Scion‘s new ad campaign for its subcompact iQ, entitled “Babes n’ Donuts,” centers around — you guessed it — babes and donuts. Specifically, it’s four bikini-clad babes munching on donuts and drinking milk while seated inside a Scion iQ as it speeds through reverse donuts in the parking lot of Los Angeles institution Randy’s Donuts. We suppose Scion and ad agency ATTIK simply wanted to highlight the iQ’s tight turn radius (the car measures just a hair over ten feet long), along with an interior space roomy enough to comfortably seat four adults. And if babes in bikinis aren’t your thing, there are three other spots that feature cops, dudes and bikers. And donuts. Check them all out following the click.

The short film takes the viewer on a brief journey through picturesque Panama City, providing a glimpse into its geography, history and people. The city’s neoclassical and art noveau architecture blends Spanish and French influences, while the landscape outside the dense city corridors is formed by rugged terrain and lush rain forests. It is these disparate elements that influenced the Ransom by adidas collection, some of which — like the Pier and Army TR Low — are showcased within the video. Check it out following the click.
