| adidas Originals – Spring/Summer 2012 – Handball 5 Plug Posted: 14 Apr 2012 12:30 AM PDT We formerly told you about the origins of the adidas Originals Handball 5 Plug (quick recap: it’s a performance shoe developed for the handball world championship in 1984) when we presented a close-up look at this terrific Pool colorway, which has largely retained its original low-profile silhouette, including details like the adjustable cushioning plugs in the midsole. It’s joined by two additional styles for Spring 2012, one in a similar mesh and suede makeup in grey with blue leather 3-stripe and gum sole, the other in a tonal navy leather build with contrast stitching throughout. | Posted: 13 Apr 2012 11:00 PM PDT The Sony SmartWatch has landed on our shores (it debuted last month in the UK), providing capability for email, texting and social network updates on a 1.3-inch OLED touch display attached to a sporty rubber strap. The device syncs up with any smartphone running Android 2.1 or higher, using a Bluetooth 3 connection and a free app from the Google Play Store. At present there are 30 mini-apps that allow the SmartWatch to operate essentially as a remote control for your Android smartphone. The Sony SmartWatch is priced at $150, with colored armbands available for $20 a pop. It’s available in stores now, or directly through Sony.

The shoe does away with the kind of gradient coloring that we’re used to seeing on any version of the Air Max 95 style, presenting instead a Hyperfuse-built upper in a solid white shade with hits of gold at the Swoosh and lining. A blue-tinged 360 Nike Air Max sole unit provides superior cushioning and a striking first impression. The shoe is up for pre-sale now at atmos girls, with no word at present on a men’s version. | Carhartt x Adam Kimmel – Fall/Winter 2012 Collection Lookbook | By Ari Marcopoulos Posted: 13 Apr 2012 07:00 PM PDT The team over at Dazed Digital got a hold of Carhartt x Adam Kimmel‘s Fall/Winter 2012 Collection Lookbook shot by renowned photographer Ari Marcopoulos, who is known for taking themes outside of the mainstream to highlight the uniqueness of the brands he works with. For this shoot, Marcopoulos expanded on Kimmel’s inspiration for the line – the state trooper or park ranger look – and didn’t hold back, which actually ended up causing quite the stir during the shoot with passers-by feeling the power of the uniform. Kimmel’s work with the classic American brand Carhartt resulted in a line centered on dark forest green with his pieces carrying proud workwear attributes balanced with understated, but comfortable style. Perhaps LeBron can find strength and inspiration from seeing his jersey crafted from Italian leather in a unique snakeskin finish, which acts as a preview for the STEALTH collection from DRx Romanelli. | Richard Mille RM 028 Diver’s Watch – Voiles de Saint Barth Edition Posted: 13 Apr 2012 06:00 PM PDT With the beautiful Saint Barth island as the backdrop, the third annual Les Voiles de Saint Barth went underway last week. Already a premiere regatta in the Caribbean region, the sailing event saw some 65 vessels, everything from Maxi-Yachts, IRC 52 Class, to Multihulls, and more categories, all for a shot at glory. For skippers of the Maxi Yachts class however, pride wasn’t the only thing at stake. There was also this, the Richard Mille RM 028 Voiles de Saint Barth Automatic Diver’s Watch. By a meticulous incorporation of elements from a traditional diver’s watch to its signature skeletonized construct, Richard Mille’s new RM 028 was able to meet the stringent ISO 6425 standard for diver’s watch. Measured at 47 mm in diameter, the RM 028 is water resistant to 300 meters, thanks to an assembly of triple bezel and 22 screws. Driven by a skeletonized automatic movement with a variable geometry rotor, one that alters winding function to the user’s activity and a design uniquely Richard Mille’s. Quipped with a vibrant yellow rubber band, as well as matching crown and bezel indexes, the very first Richard Mille RM 028 Voiles de Saint Barth was presented to skipper George David for the best overall performance in the Maxi Yachts class.

| SUPER x WOKstore – Ndebele Special Sunglasses Posted: 13 Apr 2012 05:30 PM PDT The first installment of its “SUPER moves to” project, in which the premium sunglass brand embarks on a worldwide tour of a select group of retailers, is created in collaboration with WOKstore in Milan. The upshot is the Ndebele Special, which borrows its name — as well as the colorful geometric pattern — from an indigenous tribe in southern Africa. Featuring double-sided print on metalized acetate and aubergine Zeiss lenses, the shades are limited to 120 pieces. They’ll release during a special launch event at WOKstore on April 17th, along with the entire SUPER collection. Purchase them online starting on that same date. Design will always be king, but comfort and practicality have become paramount, a development that’s especially prevalent in the footwear firmament. A prime example is the Cole Haan LunarGrand, which blended classic brogue styling with a cushy Lunarlon sole. The shoe fairly flew off store shelves, so it’s a no-brainer that Cole Haan would co-opt that bit of Nike technology for a second round, and this preview image reveals the upcoming style will take the form of chukka boot. The Cole Haan LunarChukka features a light tan leather upper and white Lunarlon sole unit, with the two elements coming together to present an attractive silhouette.
