BMW X1 gets minor update and arrived in the States Posted: 07 Apr 2012 11:43 PM PDT BMW has unveiled the updated BMW X1 at New York Auto Show, together with announcing the arrival of X1 to the United States market. For the rest of the world, the significance is more to the debut of LCi X1, that sports revised front bumper design with more angular three opening lower grille. The high-mounted front fog lamp remains, but the bumper is more angular in its execution, giving it a more mascular look to what was somewhat weedy looking previously. The double kidney grille is also larger than before. The rear view mirror has been replaced with the new design, which is also more angular and featuring side repeater, in-line with the rest of newer BMW model such as the new 1 Series and 3 Series. The rear end revision is however very minor. The tail lamps is retained, however the lower section of the bumper has a smaller black cladding to accentuates the height of the rear end further. As a results, the rear reflector is now the bumper section, instead of being fixed together with the blackened parts. Reference to the pre-LCi can be seen after the jump at the end of the post. The interior has been reworked minimally with the new steering wheel design that is more in-line with recent BMW model. The classy touch has also been added to the i-Drive screen with chromed accents on the outer edge of the screen. Typical to any OEM refreshment, the trim and color scheme has been revised to for fresher offerings. Other than that the cabin is pretty much similar to the current BMW X1. More after the jump. |
