| Sergio Garcia – “Heat” Gunpowder Prints Of Air Jordans | Video Posted: 17 May 2012 12:00 AM PDT Artist Sergio Garcia, a self-described “huge Jordan fan,” received his first pair of Air Jordans from a friend. They were a used pair of IIIs, and Sergio was able to restore them so effectively that his friend actually asked for them back. His love for Jordans was such that it propelled him to create a series of works that celebrated Tinker Hatfield’s designs, but in the sort of pop art vein that called to mind Andy Warhol. Inspired by a Michael Jordan quote urging the importance of turning a negative situation into a positive one, he turned to gun powder as a medium for his colorful screen prints — the ultimate expression of taking something for negative use and creating something positive. Sergio’s colorful “Heat” prints feature iconic Air Jordan models that are priced affordably so they can reach a younger generation, perhaps acting as their introduction to the art world. | Prometheus – Dr. Elizabeth M. Shaw “Quiet Eye” | Video Posted: 16 May 2012 11:00 PM PDT The latest viral video in promotion of the upcoming Ridley Scott film Prometheus places Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) front and center. Entitled “The Quiet Eye,” the 90-second clip is presented in the guise of a video message to Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) of Weyland Industries. It gives us a bit of background information about the character — Shaw is an archeologist with multiple doctorate degrees who isn’t lacking for curiosity or persistence — and how she came to join the Prometheus crew. But the video raises questions as well — namely, why is Weyland performing those complex facial and voice analyses on this seemingly innocuous transmission? Check out the video below, and look for Prometheus to open in theaters on June 8th.

Check out “Zuckerberg: The Musical” by CDZA (short for Collective Cadenza), a multi-talented troupe who specializes in “musical video experiments.” Comprised of 12 scenes and clocking in at less than four minutes, the compressed saga tells the story of the rise of Facebook. Founder Mark Zuckerberg, who celebrated his 28th birthday Monday and will soon celebrate his social networking site going public on Friday, can add this mini-musical to the list of things that are making his week the best week ever.
