Mighty Healthy x Benny Gold – Capsule Collection Posted: 18 May 2012 12:00 AM PDT New York and San Francisco collide in the Mighty Healthy x Benny Gold ”Stay Hungry” capsule collection. The goods comprise two individual t-shirt styles and a snapback cap, each done up in black and gold colorways. The “San Francisco” tee features the city name printed backward in signature Mighty Healthy style, along with a golden apple sleeve print. That gold apple graphic — a play on Mighty Healthy’s knife-through-big-apple logo — replaces the blade with Benny’s paper airplane trademark, and is featured on the second t-shirt style and snapback cap. The Stay Hungry collection is available now at Benny Gold’s brick and mortar store and online. Benny Gold

Tom Sachs – “SPACE PROGRAM: MARS” | Exhibition Recap Posted: 17 May 2012 11:00 PM PDT Tom Sachs‘ “Space Program: Mars” exhibition at the Park Avenue Armory bills itself as an “immersive space odyssey with an installation of dynamic and meticulously crafted sculptures.” Sachs and his thirteen-member crew — outfitted in pieces from the NIKECraft collection — will stage regular demonstrations of the maintenance of their extraterrestrial mission, beginning with the liftoff to Mars and culminating in a research excursion on the surface of the red planet. In between, the team will deal with myriad tasks ranging from food delivery, entertainment, agriculture and waste disposal. The exhibition raises questions that relate to production and consumption, as well as exploration and creativity. “Space Program: Mars” will run until June 17th. The Tom Sachs NIKECraft collection be sold in an adjoining pop-up installation. SPACE PROGRAM: MARS Exhibition Dates: Now – June 17th, 2012 (Saturday)

New Balance M1500 “Made in England” – Fall 2012 | Preview Posted: 17 May 2012 10:00 PM PDT The 1500 is one of New Balance‘s most popular silhouettes, though discerning sneakerheads know the 1500s to get are the ones that feature the prominent “Made in England” embroidery on the tongue. For the Fall 2012 season the brand presents the shoe in five individual styles, each carrying a mesh base with leather, suede or nubuck builds. The suede variation features green or purple colorways, while the nubuck styles have orange or bright blue accents. The collection is rounded out by an understated leather and mesh pair dressed with black and grey neutral shades. The kicks are expected to land at retailers in July. via: Freshngood

BOWDEN + SHEFFIELD Minimalist iPad Cases | By FINEGRAIN Posted: 17 May 2012 09:30 PM PDT While iPad cases are no stranger to our pages, a time comes when a group of designers come in and completely change the rules of the game. And, to top it off, these two from FINEGRAIN are also full-time students. So what is so special about these cases? The Bowden and the Sheffield are two versions of an iPad case sturdy enough to take a beating, but sleek enough to fit in in the boardroom or classroom. Built using natural materials and a magnetic closure system, you won’t have to think twice about the safety of your beloved tablet. Both cases feature an ultra-soft lining that also doubles as a screen cleaner as the tablet goes in and out of the case. In particular, the Bowden is milled from aircraft-grade aluminium and is bead-blasted and hard-anodized for a cool finish. On the other hand, the Sheffield is constructed with milled polycarbonate paired with 100% natural wood felt that – get ready for it – also includes a surface to be used as a dry-erase board. Pretty slick stuff. If you want to learn more about theses minimalist iPad cases or how you can get your hands on one, check out their Kickstarter page.

Animatronic Terminator Bust by T-Studio Posted: 17 May 2012 07:00 PM PDT The designers at Japan’s T-Studio have created a new toy that will have you asking “Is this how Skynet begins?” Their incredibly detailed chrome busts, depicting the shiny endoskeleton of the T-800 from the Terminator films, feature independently moving head, neck and glowing red eyes. Lending to its likeness from the original Terminator film from 1984, this version of the T-800 has teeth created from scratch based on images of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and fairly jerky motions, which can be controlled via switches on the base of the pedestal or remote control. Busts are custom made to order. via: Gizmodo
