Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Tuned | By Wheelsandmore Posted: 18 May 2012 11:00 PM PDT German auto tuner Wheelsandmore has gone to work on the Lamborghini Aventador, a two-seater supercar unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011. The Aventador LP700-4 comes out of the factory equipped with a 6.5-liter V12 good for 690 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque, which Wheelsandmore bumps to 766 horses and 560 lb-ft of torque through a software upgrade. Aside from the power boost, the vehicle gets the benefit of a new set of ultra-light three-piece forged alloy wheels finished with rims in the same color as the exterior paint. The 20-inch rims up front are wrapped in Pirelli tires, as are the 21-inch wheels in back. An additioinal carbon-fiber styling package for the Aventador is expected to be launched by Wheelsandmore in the months to come. via: CarScoop

Audemars Piguet – Making of Royal Oak Tapisserie Dial | Video Posted: 18 May 2012 10:00 PM PDT The Royal Oak by Swiss prestige watchmaker Audemars Piguet – celebrating its 40th anniversary this year — is famous for its tapisserie pattern dial. It’s essentially the face of the timepiece, giving it character and a distinct identity. The craftspeople at Audemars Piguet have been manufacturing the White Oak dial using the same techniques since 1972. Tradition and expert skill trump CNC technology in their workshop, as the following video demonstrates. Clocking in at two and half minutes, the short film depicts the various steps and intricate work that go into the construction of the dial, from the etching of the tapisserie pattern to the application of white gold hour markers. LEGO CUUSOO – Land Rover Defender 110 | By Sheepo Posted: 18 May 2012 03:30 PM PDT Sheepo is the moniker of a civil engineering student from Madrid, Spain, who’s built something akin to a LEGO masterpiece: a fully-functional 1:8.5 scale version of the Land Rover Defender 110. Operated by remote control, the toy vehicle has a five-speed gearbox, transfer case offering four-wheel or two-wheel drive mode, and four functional disc brakes. Additional details include opening doors, a working suspension and folding bench seats in the back. Top speed is around 2.5 mph. 2,800 parts and seven motors went into the build. The only thing missing are cup holders. Sheepo, aka Fernando, has submitted his creation to LEGO CUUSOO, meaning that if the kit gets 10,000 votes, then LEGO will put it into production. See Sheepo’s submission here.

Patrick Runte – “Jump ‘N’ Run” Photograph Series | Real Life Re-enactment of Iconic Video Games Posted: 18 May 2012 02:30 PM PDT A series of images by Hamburg-based photographer Patrick Runte answers one of the major mysteries of the modern world: What does Pac-Man look like from the front? The title of the collection — “Jump ‘n’ Run” — speaks to the rudimentary appearance of early video games, where the gaming environments were far removed from any semblance of reality. Consequently, it’s fascinating to see the trappings of the game in a real-world environment: Pac-Man maneuvering around a hedge maze, gobbling airborne pellets while evading ghosts, or individual Tetris block segments looking to assemble. Check out the rest of the images below, which depict the worlds of Pong, Space Invaders, Ballerbug and Pinball. via: PSFK

Nike Soccer – “My Time is Now” Campaign | Video Posted: 18 May 2012 12:40 PM PDT It was during the months that led up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup when Nike unleashed its “Write The Future” campaign, one which encompassed a most impressive list of cameos from Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Landon Donovan, Ronaldinho, and even none soccer personalities like Kobe Bryant, Roger Federer, and Homer Simpsons. Now, two years later, Nike reveals a follow-up in the form of “My Time Is Now”. Ahead two of soccer world’s largest stages – the 2012 UEFA EURO CUP and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the new campaign highlights the rank and file of soccer’s best, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Andres Iniesta, Wesley Sneijder, Franck Ribery, Mario Götze, Mesut Özil, Yann M'Vila, Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, as well as appearances by Pep Guardiola, Laurent Blanc, and LeBron James. However, the plot takes on a different tone with the inclusion of young, upcoming stars of the sport. Shot and superimposed onto a France vs. Holland game, new comers by the hundreds outflanked, even overwhelmed the familiar faces on the pitch, eager for their shot at glory and fame. But don’t expect any of the game’s current stars to go down without a fight, all to make an exciting prelude to things to come this summer.
