VANS OTW Ludlow Decon – Fall 2012 Posted: 08 Jun 2012 08:30 PM PDT Its successful first run from Spring 2012 means the Ludlow Decon from Vans OTW is enjoying a return engagement for fall. Stripped of excess padding, the simply designed low-cut sneaker has a premium leather upper and stitch-down cupsole, its sleek silhouette reinforced with a one-piece toe. The deconstructed build is enhanced with a molded polyurethane insole that provides all-day cushioned comfort. The shoe is available in two colorways — washed suede Black with contrast red laces and white foxing, and washed suede Bungee with orange laces and beige foxing. The kicks are arriving at retailers this month.

uniform experiment x Robert Mapplethorpe – T-Shirt Collection Posted: 08 Jun 2012 08:00 PM PDT The late American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe was equally comfortable in East Village fetish clubs and Upper East Side dinner parties. That dichotomy extended to his works, spanning both the shockingly profane and sublime, the latter exemplified by his languid still lifes of flowers from the 1980s. The images grace the front of a series of plain white tees from uniform experiment, featuring softly hued orchids, tulips, roses and calla lilies, with Mapplethorpe and uniform experiment branding printed in black type along the back. The collection is slated to drop at uniform experiment retailers on June 23rd. Release Date: June 23rd, 2012 (Saturday)

Tactus Technology – Morphing Touchscreen Technology | Video Posted: 08 Jun 2012 07:30 PM PDT Touch screen texting can be a vexing undertaking at times, as more and more of the global population is finding out as smart phones become ever more pervasive. A Northern California-based company called Tactus Technology is offering a solution to users (and our weary thumbs) with something seemingly straight out of a sci-fi movie: a keyboard that transforms from flatscreen to tactile physical buttons that rise and fall as needed. Introduced on a prototype Android tablet at this week’s SID 2012 in Boston, the screen uses microfluidic technology to make the transparent keys appear and disappear. Tactus says this groundbreaking morphing touch screen can appear on devices starting in 2013. Check out a video overview below. via: designboom

Prometheus – Paper Craft Movie Trailer | By Travis Betz Posted: 08 Jun 2012 04:30 PM PDT Notwithstanding that the film has already released, we present yet another trailer for Prometheus, though this one comes with a twist: it’s made entirely from drawings done on construction paper. The short film’s creator, Travis Betz, already has a following on YouTube for his paper-crafted “Receptionist” video series. He describes himself as a huge Alien fan who was so captivated by the Prometheus trailer (specifically, trailer no. 2) he was immediately inspired to create a shot-for-shot paper remake of the original, a process that ended up taking an entire month. His clip is presented below, along with the original for comparison.
