Recon Instruments x Mischo Erban – World’s Fastest Skateboard Speed Record Posted: 20 Jun 2012 11:00 PM PDT A 28-year-old British Columbia native by the name of Mischo Erban is now the world record holder for the fastest skateboard speed while in a standing position. Flying downhill on a mountain road in Mount Eboulements, Quebec, on June 18th, Erban achieved a top speed of 80.74mph (129.94 km/h), shattering the previous record of 70.21mph held by Douglas da Silva. He achieved the feat while wearing a custom made heads-up display prototype by Recon Instruments, which provided real-time readings of speed, distance, time and navigation. According to Erban, the technology enabled him to eliminate “any inaccuracies when training, racing, and now breaking records.” Check out video of Erban discussing the benefits of Recon Instruments’ heads-up display in the video below. via: Transworld

Nike Lunar Hyperdunk+ – Volt-Gorge Green Posted: 20 Jun 2012 08:14 PM PDT For the next phase of both Nike+, Lunar foam programs, as well as the Hyperdunk silhouette, Nike created the culmination of all three in Nike Lunar Hyperdunk+. Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish – Officially Unveiled Posted: 20 Jun 2012 07:30 PM PDT Who ever got the job of slowly removing the cover off of the Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish in their video officially unveiling their latest luxury super car definitely was a bit of a tease. Although we got a preview of what the ride looked like yesterday, the feeling of anticipation and excitement was definitely still there. However, what we didn’t know for sure yesterday was just what sort of power and specs the Vanquish has to its name. First, its design was heavily influenced by the success of the now sold-out One-77, whose sporting body with clean, lean lines and elegant finishes were translated into today’s Vanquish. Second, this Vanquish has 140% more storage space than its predecessor as well as more legroom, elbow room, and comes in either a two- or four-seat configuration. Finally, in terms of performance, the Vanquish recieved Aston Martin’s latest 6.0-litre V12 engine capable of 565-hp and – as with all Aston Martin sports cars – an impressive 0-100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds. Rounded off with a set of Pirelli P-Zero tires developed exclusively for the car fitted to new 20-inch lightweight wheels, an upgraded carbon-fiber interior, and a reduced overall bodyweight and Aston Martin fans are in store for an exciting ride. via: WorldCarFans

Marks & Caride Residence – Stairway Railing Made of LEGO Bricks | By I-BEAM Design Architecture Posted: 20 Jun 2012 07:00 PM PDT For those living in New York City, spaces are at a premium, even more so today than a decade ago. A reason why Melissa Marks and Vincente Caride took a “hands-on” approach when they decided to renovate their loft apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood. Together with I-BEAM Design Architecture, the couple, who are also creative types, took time to elaborate each space according to their daily activities. Then when it was time to design their son’s room, they went ahead and consult with Sean Kenney, a licensed LEGO Artist (one of two in New York City), for input. Perhaps to instill an inkling of creativity in their son, the couple had I-BEAM Design Architecture design a stairway with railing made of LEGO bricks. Inspired in part by Mondrian colorblock artworks, some 20,000 LEGO building blocks went into the railing’s construction. But the best part might its “cool factor” when friends come over to visit. via: CONTEMPORIST Photography by Travis Dubrueil
