| Andromeda: Tactical Lighting with Military Tri-Rail | Inspired by M4 Carbine Picatinny Rail Posted: 13 Jul 2012 10:30 PM PDT L.A.’s Sketchy Designs Studio wants to introduce some terms one normally doesn’t associate with home furnishings: “badass,” “epic” and “awesome.” They intend to do so with a lamp dubbed Andromeda Tactical Lighting, the world’s first ever military-inspired tri-rail lamp, fully utilizing a picatinny rail system that allows for the legs and shades to be locked in any height or position. Built with black anodized aluminum, composite grade nylon, woven cord and various colored anodized bolts, the Andromeda comes complete with a nostalgic filament bulb. It’s up on Kickstarter now, with a $279 pledge earning one Andromeda lamp (retail is $560). Check out more looks in the gallery below.

As with the previous 10 seasons, creative types in and around the Big Apple will do battles once again for the ultimate bragging rights in adidas FANATIC soccer tournament. Also known as the adiCup tournament, 20 teams will go head-to-head, each with their customized soccer kits courtesy of event sponsor adidas. | Ronnie Fieg x ASICS Gel Saga “Knicks” | Preview Posted: 13 Jul 2012 06:30 PM PDT The classic royal blue and orange of the New York Knicks is one of those color combos that tends to work well on sneaker silhouettes, something that even a die-hard Celtics or Heat fan would probably admit under duress. Queens native Ronnie Fieg, a fixture of the New York retail landscape since he started working at David Z at the tender age of 15, has applied the iconic Knicks colors to an ASICS Gel Saga, a 1 of 1 sample of which is seen here. Featuring a white perforated leather base with grey suede overlays, plus hits of royal blue and orange throughout, the kicks are appealing and cleanly designed. Here’s hoping they eventually make it into production.

| fragment design x Cole Haan LunarGrand Collection – Official Launch | Event Recap Posted: 13 Jul 2012 06:00 PM PDT With a contrasting presence that is both well known and discreet, Japanese market maker Hiroshi Fujiwara was on hand at last night’s launch of fragment design x Cole Haan LunarGrand Collection. Along with DJ Milo and an intimate gathering of VIPs, friends, and fans at the Cole Haan flagship store in SoHo, New York City, the event marked an important milestone as the first collaboration to base on LunarGrand design. It is also the first partnership between Fujiwara’s fragment design and Cole Haan. Similar to other fragment design projects in the past, this new collaboration is not just a curated reflection of Fujiwara’s interest. It serves as a platform for premium construct and possible applications as well. Fashioned in the style of the immensely popular LunarGrand Chukka and LunarGrand Wingtip, both in black, Scotch grain leather with pebble grain finish on a contrasting white Lunarlon sole. In addition, the collection will be offering two more LunarGrand Wingtip designs in rich, corrected grain leather with waterproof treatment. These will be available in both a beige-colored upper with navy-colored Lunarlon outsole and a limited version, in putty/black colorway with a neon pink outsole, as a Cole Haan SoHo exclusive. Finally, all four silhouettes retained their Cole Haan characteristics except for an embossed fragment design logo on the tongue. Priced around US$ 328 for the Chukka and US$ 298 for the Wingtips, the Cole Haan x fragment design LunarGrand Collection is already available at Cole Haan SoHo in New York City, followed by select retail locations around the globe with exception of the Neon Pink sole edition which will be a Cole Haan SoHo exclusive. | KENZO x VANS Authentic – Stripes Collection Posted: 13 Jul 2012 05:00 PM PDT Following up on a set of co-branded Eras, KENZO and Vans are embarking on yet another joint venture, this time on a trio of Authentic styles. The classic Vans model comes in a trio of striped colorways — brown and yellow, blue and yellow plus green and yellow variations — each featuring white painted eyelets and laces, as well as a white rubber midsole with contrast foxing stripe. A double-branded Vans and KENZO insole completes the details. | Nixon – Paul Rodriguez: Street League Practice Session | Video Posted: 13 Jul 2012 04:00 PM PDT Nixon presents a look at Paul Rodriguez during a practice session for last month’s Street League Stop 2 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Fresh off his gold medal win in the skateboard street event at this year’s X Games, Rodriquez was seen executing massive 360 flips and seemingly effortless frontside blunts. He would ultimately place fifth in the competition, while 17-year-old Nyjah Huston, whom many predicted would take the title, did just that. With switch back tails as beautiful as his, however, it’d be folly to count out P-Rod for the next Street League event. Check out the video below of the consummate pro in action.

| Hyundai Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine Posted: 13 Jul 2012 03:00 PM PDT When shopping for a new car most people take into consideration deciding factors like fuel efficiency, power or warranty, but they neglect what is perhaps the most important feature of all: its ability to help one survive the impending zombie apocalypse. That makes this Zombie Survival Edition of the 2013 Hyundai Elantra Coupe the hands down winner, though unfortunately it’s just a special one-off, just unveiled at San Diego’s Comic-Con. Designed by The Walking Dead TV-series’ creator/writer Robert Kirkman and fabricated by Design Craft, the vehicle has a front-end custom plow with spikes, metal plated window coverings, front and back end floodlights, spiked all terrain tires and a CB radio system. There’s also roof hatch to allow passengers to fight off attacking walkers, plus a trunk full of electric and pneumatic weapons.
