| The Dark Knight Rises x Under Armour – Gotham Rogues Collection Posted: 18 Jul 2012 11:00 PM PDT The highly anticipated final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, features a sequence at a Gotham Rogues football game (Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field was the stand-in for Gotham Stadium). The filmmakers approached Under Armour to design uniforms for the fictitious team, creating authentic uniforms with genuine Under Armour fabric technology, as well as team apparel and gear made up of the following: Gotham Rogues Varsity Jacket with real leather sleeves and wool body; Gotham Rogues Football Jersey crafted with sweat-wicking, quick-dry mesh; fleece hoodie and crew using Durable Water Repellent finish; plus assorted snapback caps and tees. The collection is finished with women’s V-neck and scoop-neck tees and a slim-fitting zip hoodie. Find the goods now at Under Armour’s online store.

But we know they’re not just any pair of kicks — they’re a faithful reproduction of the shoes worn by the best basketball player of all time on the best athletic team ever assembled in the history of sport. After all, the celebrated tannery has operated out of the same location in Chicago for the past 91 years, under the principle that taking the time to slowly develop products makes them better in the long run. The insight comes courtesy of a conversation with Skip Horween himself, filmed by VANS Off the Wall TV. According to Skip, the philosophy behind Horween is to be the best at what they do — not faster, or cheaper, but the best, without compromise. In referring to his collaboration with Vans, he refers to Horween as simply a part of the solution. Check out the video below, and you’ll get a sense that Horween is a much bigger part of the story than Skip lets on.
