New 2015 Honda Civic Type-R For Europe
Posted: 22 Sep 2012 05:13 AM PDT
Honda CEO Takanobu Ito has confirmed that a new Civic Type-R will be unveiled in 2015, alongside a new fuel-cell electric vehicle. A compact SUV is also set to join the range in the near future. The new Civic Type-R will be developed specifically for Europe and will incorporate developments learned from Honda's experience in the World Touring Car Championship. Ito wants it to be the fastest front-wheel-drive car around the Nurburgring, which means it will have to beat the Megane 265 Trophy's time of 8 min 7.9 seconds.

The three motor systems will be used in the four-wheel-drive NSX supercar, while it says the two-motor system is reserved for mid-sized vehicles. The one-motor layout is being developed to help Honda produce the most efficient hybrid vehicles on the road. All of the developments mentioned are part of Honda's push to increase its market by 60 per cent worldwide from 23.9 million customers to 39 million. |
2012 Honda Mini Acura NSX Review and News

V-10-powered NSX being developed, Honda is also working on a project related and not clearly referred to internally as the minil NSX. At the time, it was just one of several advanced R & D idea of sitting in a room design. Then the financial crisis hit, causing the Honda Acura NSX to kill and rule out all other sports car project. However, Honda since rebounded, and as we know, the NSX has been reborn as a hybrid all-wheel drive. Now we hear Mini NSX might as well go back to the drawing board.

Turbocharged direct-injection engines will likely provide electricity. Honda currently has a number of machines that could fit the bill, including the 3.5-liter V-6, 2.4-liter I-4 and 2.0-liter I-4 already offered in some American-market product. Given the development of Honda America-focused, such as 660cc machines overseas and 1.0-liter mill is unlikely to be considered. Of the three possibilities, 2.4-liter is the most likely candidate. There is also the possibility that it will be equipped with some kind of hybrid drive train. Our source also tells us Honda Mini Acura NSX will use some parts of the NSX to help cover the cost of development. Given that the two cars will be developed at the Honda of America R & D center in Ohio (we were told that in July Honda HQ commissioned some top drivers and engineers to the test facility to serve five years), it is a logical step. NSX remains on track to return for the 2015 model year. If it was green-lit, Mini NSX can follow one or two years later, before the driver and the chief engineer in 2017. Do not expect it to be cheap sports car, however. Given the amount of DNA is likely to share with the NSX, Mini NSX will likely cost between $ 50,000 and $ 60,000. |
